Digital Depot

The Digital Depot, a new service on the second floor of Russell Hall, provides Teachers College members the equipment and technical support necessary to digitally create or duplicate their writing and research materials. Students, faculty, and staff can convert their authored material into more usable and accessible forms, including its permanent storage in the PocketKnowledge Digital Archive.

Patrons who visit the Depot can peruse equipment tutorials and proceed to create their own digital material at one of four self-service stations. Faculty may opt to drop off materials for Depot staff to digitize, and/or work with staff on longer range projects to strengthen the institutional repository and social archive.

The Depot houses two Fujitsu scanners with Optical Character Recognition (OCR) capability for auto-feed or flatbed scanning. In addition there are several Sony DVDirect recordable DVD drives for transferring photo, video, camcorder, and digital camera content onto dvds. The Depot offers several large display screens, allowing patrons to view resources as they are being developed for PocketKnowledge.

Depot staff members are available for assistance with questions concerning the production of digital material, creation and management of PocketKnowledge accounts, and other related needs, including referrals for research and information services; content delivery; media design; and collaborative consulting.

So collect your old photos, videos, papers, art, lesson plans, and anything else you need digitized, and visit the Depot.
