Literature Review Format

You can search some of the databases (e.g. Education Research Complete, APA PsycExtra, ERIC, and Pocket Knowledge) for literature reviews and use them as models.

The annual publicationReview of Research in Education(available in print and online) provides excellent examples of reviews of the literature, as do handbooks of research in various subject areas (e.g. Handbook of Research on Social Studies Teaching and Learning, Handbook of Research on the Education of Young Children).

The Online Writing Lab at Purdue University provides a sample literature review.

Harvardís Graduate School of Education also has an excellent webpage that provides sources for Mapping Out and Writing a Critical Literature Review.††
