Where Are All The Books?

To locate specific items in the library's collection (books, dissertations, media, journals, e-resources), consult our online catalog EDUCAT at educat.tc.columbia.edu.

Most of the books in our library's collection published between 1950 and the present are located in the open stacks on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors of the library (in the Tower section).

Refer to the Stack Guide, at library.tc.columbia.edu/stacks, for more specific information on locations in the open book stacks.

The Curriculum (CURR) collection (which includes textbooks and other materials for classroom use), 1990-present, and the Juvenile (JUV) collection (which includes children's literature of all kinds), 1990-present, are located on the 2nd Floor in the Reading Room.

If you find a record in EDUCAT for an item indicated to be located in the Closed Stack, the record will include a link that enables you to request that it be retrieved for you; clicking on this link will connect you to the Support Request page for retrieval requests, at library.tc.columbia.edu/support.php?dq=retrieval_request, where you will need to provide information about the work requested and about yourself.

To learn more about the Closed Stack collections, see library.tc.columbia.edu/retrieve
