Summer Construction in the LibraryUpdate: From July 1st - August 31st, the Third Floor (including the reading room and group rooms) will be closed to patrons. The Third and Fourth Floor Stacks will also be closed to patrons. To obtain books from these ranges, please initiate a "Request" from EDUCAT. You will be updated (within 24-48 hours) by email when your book is available at the services desk. All library group rooms will be designated as shared quiet study space during this period.
From April 1st, 2015:
The College is working to repair the roof, install a sprinkler system, upgrade the WiFi, and renovate the fourth floor in Russell Hall. As a result, library patrons will experience interruptions of some library operations throughout the summer.
All critical library services will be maintained without interruption. These include Course Reserves, Digital Document Delivery, the Library Catalog, PocketKnowledge, Research Consultations, and all online services and resources.
Patrons should anticipate the closing of various floors of the library as the construction work progresses through the building.
To provide as much space for general use as possible during the construction, the library room reservation process will be suspended and all library rooms will have general seating during all open hours throughout the summer. When study space is limited, please see this list of spaces across Columbia's Morningside campus:
Study Space at Columbia University
As construction progresses, patron access to the book stacks will be suspended and all books will be retrieved by library staff.
We are sorry for these service interruptions, but we look forward to returning to a full program of library services at the end of construction.
For the latest information on library services during the construction or if you have any general questions about library services, librarians are available via a Support Request, by phone, or in person at the library.
