What does Serious Comics, the upcoming Everett News Cafe book collection, tell us about the relevance and impact of the comic book as a model for new forms of teaching, learning, and research?
Visit the curated display of over 20 books and find out. You will gain insights into seminal works, theory and education, and popular contemporary culture, by perusing such authors as Frank Miller, Scout McCloud, Nick Sousanis, Maureen Bakis, Marc-Antoine Mathieu, and Gail Simone, among others.
On display from September 18th through October 18th, Serious Comics is launched in connection with the September 21st book talk, Unflattening, with comic artist and educator Nick Sousanis, and guests.
This exhibition is curated by Benjamin Villarreal, Adjunct Instructor of College English and English Education, Graduate Writing Center Coordinator, and current TC doctoral student; Clare Nolan, Gottesman Libraries' Services Associate, who also works in a local comic book shop; and Jihii Jolly, Innovation Fellow, Edlab Design Team.
