Special Screening: Friday, 1/23, 4pm: School ReDesign Show
Reality TV now has an educational twist.
The Teachers College web video channel –
After Ed TV – has produced an education-themed reality show,
School ReDesign. The show combines the drama and excitement of reality TV with a focus on designing the schools of the future.
The first four episodes of School ReDesign will be published on After Ed TV in four installments starting on December 5th, 2008.
Competing teams combine graduate students of education with students of architecture and design. Their challenge will be to create visionary designs for the green classroom of the future – a space that incorporates green design and that empowers learning about environmental issues.
The green classroom proposals will be judged by a panel of architecture and education experts, and the winning team will be awarded the After Ed TV “Future of Education” Award. The winning design will be put on display at the Gottesman libraries at Teachers College in the spring of 2009.
The show is hosted by Tom “Doc” Rock. He brings realty show experience as a contestant on CBS’ reality show “The Amazing Race,” and holds a doctorate from Teachers College, where he is Director of Admissions.
School ReDesign will be rolled out in four installments on After Ed TV:
12/05/2008, 4pm - Episode 1: Meet the Contestants
12/19/2008, 4pm - Episode 2: The Challenge
