Request Materials

Students

Teachers College students may request items not owned by any of the Columbia Morningside Campus libraries. Students should search both TC and CU library catalogs before submitting a request to this service. Please note, there are many online journals in the TC and CU Catalogs (also on the TC e-Journals A-Z list and CU e-Journals A-Z list) and this will save you the time of entering an invalid request. Requests are accepted for materials determined to be missing from the Gottesman Libraries or the Columbia Libraries. Requests are also accepted for books or articles from journals owned only by Columbia's Health Sciences Library (168th Street and Fort Washington Avenue). Requests by students are usually fulfilled as an Interlibrary Loan.

Please use our Reserves System to make a request:

We offer faculty a document delivery service which should cover the range of research needs. One can place a request for anything you need for your personal research or your course reserves. We will obtain the materials according to your needs through a variety of methods, including retrieval from all the Morningside campus libraries, purchase, and interlibrary loan. Articles and chapters will be delivered electronically to your desktop. Books from both the TC Library and the CU Morningside campus libraries will be retrieved and available for pick-up at the Services Desk, as will books, videos and other materials we purchase.

If possible, please note whether you are willing to accept an interlibrary loan item. Materials borrowed via interlibrary loan, such as books, dissertations, videos and other physical items, cannot be placed on reserve.
