Meet the Staff - Lucy Skrebutenas

Are you a Teachers College student, and, if so, what are you studying?

Nope! I'm not currently in grad school, but I've been looking into getting my MLS or working in Museum Education.

Where’s your hometown?

I'm from the Albany area. There's not much there, but we do have Stewart's.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a ballerina.

What was your first job?

I was a camp counselor, and later on, the Arts + Crafts counselor, which meant the campers couldn't force me to play kickball anymore.

What has been your best job?

I was a waitress for a country club for a few years, and I have a lot of wild stories from working there. If you see me, please ask me about the golf cart story.

Your favorite meal:

Any kind of soup or curry.

Are you a morning or night person?:

Morning

A delicious dessert:

Chocolate soft serve in a cone with rainbow sprinkles.

Song you love no matter how many times you hear it:

"Lay All Your Love On Me", specifically the Mamma Mia version.

A country you’d like to visit:

Portugal or Hungary

A book you strongly recommend?

Almost Sisters by Joshilyn Jackson

A sport you enjoy playing (or watching)?

I like watching women's gymnastics and ice skating during the Olympics, but I don't normally watch sports.

Best places to read?

In a coffee shop (with coffee) or in bed.

The strangest thing I’ve ever done is…

I was in a waterpark commerical in 7th grade, and the company still has my photo on promotional materials nearly 10 years later.

The most fascinating person I’ve ever met is…

My roommate Annika! They were in a circus company with all of their siblings for most of their childhood, they're an awesome carpenter/scenic designer/lighting designer, do excellent watercolors and pencil sketches, often make carbonara at 3am, and would sell their soul for a good milkshake.
