"Our Land. Our Future. We are #GenerationRestoration."

On June 5th we celebrate World Environment Day, which dates back to 1972 when the United Nations formally recognized the need to encourage awareness and action to protect the planet, and with a view to address numerous environmental and ecological issues, including: global warming, sustainable development, marine life, overpopulation, endangered species, and much more.  Non-governmental organizations, governments, businesses, and educational institutions from around the globe have joined the campaign hosted throughout the decades by major cities, from Stockholm to Tokyo to Delhi.  The theme for 2024 is "Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience" and the global platform takes place in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with a strong call to collaboratively rehabilitate natural habitats and reduce environmental degradation by by engaging in essential activities and programs.

The following articles are drawn from Proquest Historical Newspapers, which informs and inspires classroom teaching and learning.
