Open Access Week 2025

As we move into the heart of Autumn, the library looks forward to International Open Access Week, October 20-26, 2025.
This year’s theme Who Owns Our Knowledge? asks how communities can reassert control over the knowledge they produce and challenges us to reflect on not only who has access to education and research but on how knowledge is created and shared, where it has come from, and whose voices are recognized and valued.
Please join us for our ABC’s of Copyright workshop (register here) at Gottesman Libraries/online on Thursday, October 23, 2025 where we will help you to better understand your rights over the knowledge you produce, to use others’ knowledge and research, and to share your works.
Please also be sure to check out these events from Columbia University Libraries:
- How to Publish Open Access without Article Processing Charges (APCs), online on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 (register here)
- Managing risk: Protect your work & yourself in an OA landscape, online on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 (register here)
- Git-ing Software: Finding and Re-using Research Software on GitHub, at Butler Library, Friday, October 24, 2025 (register here)
And visit Columbia University Library’s The Tinker for blog posts throughout October that will cover no-fee publishing models, institutionally-supported publishing programs, and open access models.
