We are pleased to offer the following workshops in September to familiarize you with library resources and services, as well as other useful skills.
  • Get Lit! Conducting the Review, Tuesday, 9/29, 3-4:30pm
  • A review of literature is an essential step in the process of writing a thesis or dissertation, or any paper for publication. It asks that you read and critique articles, books, and other sources that have already been written on your topic or related topics. In the process, you are required to find sources and evaluate the best way to focus your research so that you can contribute to a body of scholarly literature. We will assist you in locating the sources you need to conduct your review of the literature and offer some basic guidance on the steps past research -- namely, presenting and organizing your material.   • You Are a Doctoral Student: Now What?, Tuesday, 9/8, 3:30-5:15pm
  • In coordination with Student Development and Activities, we will present on essential resources and services for doctoral students, including unique tools for research and communication. Also presenting are: Office of Doctoral Studies, Wellness/Healthy Student Habits, Graduate Writing Center, and a Student Panel. Please rsvp with your details no later than Monday, September 7th.   • How to Present, Wednesday, 9/23, 7-8:30pm
  • Attend this session to learn more about the key aspects of leading professional presentations! You will hear tips on audience participation, as well as staying on track. This session will focus also on in-class presentations. How to Present is part of the Higher and Postsecondary Education Professional Development Series, which features speakers and workshops throughout the semester.   • Orientation for International Students, Friday, 9/25, 3-4pm
  • Partnering with the Office of International Services, we will give an overview of the Gottesman Libraries and guide students through key research resources and services, including Course Reserves, Learning at the Library, the Education Program, and Vialogues.
