Staff Picks: Unconventional Beach Reads

Come and pick out a book or two, before your prop up the umbrella or dip into the water! Unconventional Beach Reads is a book display covering works that you might not necessarily think of reading during your vacation or time off school or work.Whether you have the stamina to sink your teeth into a weighty tome, or are inclined towards something a bit lighter to pass the time, July-August Staff Picks introduces you to a few summer favorites -- from Neil DeGrasse Tyson's Death by Black Hole: And Other Cosmic Quandaries (2014), to Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities (1972), a conversation between Kubla Khan and Marco Polo, through to Alan Moore's groundbreaking graphic novel, The Watchmen (DC Comics, 2013). What better thing to do than settle down with a good book -- your toes in the sand, lemonade by your side... or maybe you are lazing in a shady hammock, listening to the gulls -- a wisp or two of cloud on on the horizon... Staff Picks is curated by Kaitlin Kehnemuyi, Innovation Fellow, specializing in acquisitions and materials at the Gottesman Libraries. Where: Reading Room, Second Floor When: Through August
