Please join artists Clara Santamaria and Jonathan Sparks as they launch their work and discuss the interplay between memory and learning.
is an interactive installation by Clara Santamaria and Jonathan Sparks that evokes the way memories are recalled in the brain. The artists were inspired by how our brains remember and learn--and by the fact that, when we recall something, we literally light a path in our brains. Keepsake
represents a neural network through movement of light in the web-like sculpture.
The structure, which spans the hallway, was influenced by the look and feel of neurons. It comprises 400+ linear feet of acrylic tubes, each with programmable LED lights. The buttons, when pressed, trigger a memory and light up the path in the brain.
