Workshop: Empower Hour: Demystifying the IRB, Tuesday, 2/12, 3-4pm

The Institutional Review Board is an administrative body established to protect the rights and welfare of human research subjects recruited to participate in research activities conducted under the auspices of the institution with which it is affiliated.

This workshop provides a general overview of IRB, Citi training changes, timeline for submission, and other important areas. It will give researchers a better understanding of the services offered by the TC's IRB, including regulation, admission, and ethics, and provide advice on how to submit an IRB protocol for review, including necessary documents.


Myra Luna-Lucero is Research Compliance Manager for the Office of Sponsored Programs at Teachers College. She holds a BA and MA from the University of New Mexico and a doctorate in math, science, and technology from Teachers College, Columbia University.

This workshop is part of a new series, "Empower Hour", co-sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs; Office of Sponsored Programs, and Office of Diversity and Community Affairs, and geared towards entry-level or Masters students. The goal of the series to provide institutional knowledge and empower students to take charge of their educational journey.
