In October, we highlight research databases that cover the literature of STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. These resources support College programs and offerings and encourage STEAM learning by and for all ages and in all settings.
Academic Search Premier is a multidisciplinary database providing full text for more than 4,600 journals, including nearly 3,900 peer-reviewed titles. PDF backfiles to 1975 or further are available for well over one hundred journals.
Applied Science and Technology Full Text features full text, graphs, charts, diagrams, photos, and illustrations that convey an abundance of data in scientific and technical articles. Full Text coverage for selected periodicals is also included. Education Full Text provides comprehensive coverage of an international range of English-language periodicals, monographs, and yearbooks. Indexing coverage begins June 1983; abstracts are included beginning spring 1994; full text of some journals is available beginning in January 1996.
Education Research Complete provides indexing and abstracts for more than 2,100 journals, as well as full text for more than 1,200 journals, and includes full text for nearly 500 books and monographs.
ERIC is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education to provide extensive access to educational-related periodical literature. ERIC (which stands for Educational Resources Information Center) provides coverage of conferences, meetings, government documents, theses, dissertations, reports, audiovisual media, bibliographies, directories, books, and monographs. In addition to this version, ERIC is also made available via the CSA-Proquest Illumina platform and via the U.S. government ERIC site.
General Science Full Text is a bibliographic database that indexes and abstracts articles from English-language periodicals published in the United States and Great Britain plus the full text of selected periodicals. Periodical coverage includes popular science magazines as well as professional journals. General Science Full Text also covers The New York Times Science Section (published weekly on Tuesday). Abstracting coverage begins with periodicals published in March 1993. Abstracts range from 50 to 300 words and describe the content and scope of the source articles. Full text coverage begins in January 1995. General Science Full Text covers such subjects as astronomy, atmospheric science, biology, botany, chemistry, conservation, earth science, environment, food, genetics, health, mathematics, medicine, microbiology, nutrition, oceanography, physics, physiology, and zoology.
Kraus Curriculum Development Library is a resource to implement educational strategies and improve learning. This searchable database of curricula, frameworks,, and standards brings together educational objectives, content, instructional strategies, and evaluative techniques for all subjects covered in PreK-12 and Adult Basic Education.
LearnTechLib is a resource for aggregated, peer-reviewed research on the latest developments in learning and technology. It includes journal articles, conferences papers, e-books, reports, dissertations, videos, keynote talks, presentation slides, webinars, and collections of articles with more added daily.
MathSciNet provides citations, abstracts, and review texts of research literature in mathematics fields, including algebra, geometry, calculus, number theory, numerical analysis, and topology.
Professional Development Collection is designed for professional educators. It provides a highly specialized collection of nearly 520 high-quality education journals, including more than 350 peer-reviewed titles. The database also contains more than 200 educational reports.
ProQuest provides broad multidisciplinary coverage of scholarly journals, newspapers, dissertations, and other types of publications; for international coverage and access to full texts of dissertations only, search ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Global, a subset of ProQuest.
ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global is the world’s most comprehensive collection of dissertations and theses, the official digital dissertations archive for the Library of Congress, and the database of record for graduate research. Includes millions of searchable citations to dissertation and theses from around the world from 1861 to the present day, together with over a million full text dissertations that are available for download in PDF format. The database offers full text for most of the dissertations added since 1997 and strong retrospective full text coverage for older graduate works.
PsycINFO covers the scholarly literature in the psychological, social, behavioral, and health sciences.
