Transitioning Course Reserves

Transitioning Course Reserves

An Important Message

Dear TC Community,

Over the last week DocDel (Course Reserves), the system for requesting materials through the Teachers College library, has been experiencing substantial technical difficulties due to Microsoft no longer supporting the technology the service utilizes. As a result, the process of retiring the DocDel service will begin at the end of the week and temporary systems put in place to handle requests for library materials. We understand that this is a very untimely event, but one that is unfortunately unavoidable. We sincerely regret this imposition as you begin your semester and wish to share the following details to help inform and reassure.

How does this affect me?

  • The interface for making materials requests to the library will change, but you will be able to access the new materials request form through the same locations (library website, MyTC).
  • For the time being you will be able to access your previous requests in DocDel, but this functionality will be migrated to another service by May 20, 2020.
  • Priority for new requests will be given to Spring 2020 Course Reserves rather than research requests.
  • Access to Course Reserves will remain in Canvas until May 20, 2020. Canvas questions should be emailed to servicedesk@tc.columbia.edu.
  • Your previous Course Reserves requests were received, even if an error message appeared. Confirmation that your request is being processed and fulfilled will be delivered via email from librarymaterials@tc.columbia.edu. In the future, new processes will be implemented that we will seek your feedback on.

We welcome your feedback and input, as we work to improve document delivery and Course Reserves. If you would like to meet, or have any questions about this transition, please email the library staff at librarysupport@tc.columbia.edu.

Thank you for your understanding.
