The Cat Is Out of the Bag!

Live with Alma and Primo VE

Dear Patrons,

Today we go live! Educat+ is our new library catalog, powered by Primo VE, a sophisticated discovery layer that provides seamless searching and robust access to our collections, including research, curriculum, children’s literature, and institutional -- both physical and electronic -- with a superior look and feel for researchers. The migration to the new cloud-based Ex Libris software embraces Alma, a back-end library services platform which is successor to Sierra (Educat) -- providing enhanced functionality of library operations: acquisitions, cataloging, fulfilment (circulation), resource sharing, and data analytics.

The project implementation team was led by Jon Macmillan, Program Manager, TCIT Enterprise Applications; Kalliopi Mathios, Head of Technical Services and Metadata Librarian; and Jennifer Govan, Library Director and Senior Librarian, in close coordination with the Ex Libris team.

MaxPixel.net-Decoration-Celebration-Confetti-Party-Streamers-309651.pngWe hope you enjoy the new search experience, which offers scoped and faceted searches, permalinks, citations, exporting, favorites’ lists; information on holdings outside the Gottesman Libraries, and more. Workshops on Educat+ are scheduled throughout the Fall Semester, and details may be found on the library website.

We are also excited to announce the implementation of Leganto, a companion module for course reserves which integrates with Canvas. More information is forthcoming as we prepare for the January 2022 launch.

Questions or requests for assistance may be submitted via Ask a Librarian, live chat (blue bubble on the library website), or telephone (212-678-3494).

Best wishes, and happy searching,

The Gottesman Libraries
