Announcing Leganto

A New Platform for Course Resource Lists

teamwork-cooperation.jpegWe are excited to announce the implementation of Ex Libris Leganto, a collaborative platform for instructors and librarians to create and fulfill reading lists for students in courses taught each semester at Teachers College, Columbia University.

Course Resource Lists integrate with Canvas, the College’s learning management system, and Educat+, our new library catalog powered by sophisticated searching of our collections and beyond.

As part of this process, we are piloting courses with eight faculty members who are testing and offering feedback in preparation for our soft launch on Tuesday, November 30th, 2021. As of this date, all instructors are invited to begin using the new course reserves system after placing a reserves request for the Spring Term. The Gottesman Libraries, along with the Digital Futures institute will provide training resources, and the DFI Instructional Support Associates also will be available to support faculty with the training and implementation of this new system.

We are pleased to provide course reserves through Leganto in a variety of formats, but to ensure timely delivery of your materials, we suggest sending your requests as soon as possible. Print reserve books, in particular, may take up to 30 days to arrive.

Upcoming:

November 30, 2021 - Submission of requests for Spring 2022 Course Reserves may be placed here. Course materials will be delivered in Canvas as a Course Resource List within the Leganto extension.

January 11, 2022 - Recommended completion of submission of Spring 2022 Course Reserves requests (with ongoing submission and fulfillment throughout the term)

May 19, 2022 - Beginning of Summer A, with fuller roll out of Course Resource Lists

Workshops, tutorials, and individual consultations are being offered by the Gottesman Libraries and Digital Futures Institute in the coming weeks and months, and we encourage you to reach out to us for more information.

This project is managed by Jon Macmillan, Program Manager, TCIT Enterprise Applications, in coordination with Kalli Mathios, Head of Technical Services and Metadata Librarian; Roshnara Kissoon, Reserves and Support Services Librarian; Jennifer Govan, Library Director and Senior Librarian; and Clare Berends and Minh Le, Principal Instructional Designers, Digital Futures Institute.

We look forward to working with you!

Sincerely,

The Gottesman Libraries

& Digital Futures Institute
