Announcing Applications for NYPL Cards

Fun, Free Resources for TC Students

Lion_BW.pngApplications for free New York Public Library cards are now available in print at the First Floor Services Desk to current students of Teachers College, Columbia University. Library cards offer reading and borrowing privileges at all 92 New York Public Library branches, including the George Bruce Library located at 518 West 125th Street, whose collections in popular fiction, nonfiction, and audio may facilitate recreation while supplementing resources available through the Gottesman and Columbia University Libraries. In addition NYPL cards allow easy access to sponsored cultural programs throughout the boroughs.

A couple of NYPL resources that may be especially appealing are:

  • SimplyE: NYPL's eReader app (more than 300,000 e-books and audiobooks available in one place).
  • Culture Pass (partnership with museums and theaters for dozens of free virtual programs this Spring!)

Teachers College students interested in applying for a NYPL card will be asked to show their current TC ID card. Please stop by the First Floor Library Services Desk for more information and get started!

Columbia University Law School and Barnard College also participate in similar arrangements, and respective students are encouraged to inquire at their libraries for NYPL applications.
