Musician Bios: Tim Sullivan is the founder and director of Open Road Music, a network of music educators who provide music lessons and group classes to people of all ages. A player of multiple woodwind instruments, including the saxophone, Tim also teaches jazz at Lincoln Center's Early Childhood Music Program, Webop, where he also served as consultant, lyricist, arranger, vocalist, and instrumentalist. He is an adjunct faculty member at Long Island University where he maintains a woodwind studio. He is pursuing an EdD in music and music education at Teachers College, Columbia University and is also the Director of Programing for JazzReach, Inc. a NYC based arts non-profit dedicated to fostering wider awareness, appreciation, and education for jazz in young audiences. Christian Nourijanian is an accomplished Jazz pianist who is fluid in many styles including pop, singer-songwriter, and gospel. Christian also branches out to the Hammond Organ, and Synthesizer Keyboards as well. He is student piano instructor and also a Music Education student at Teachers College, Columbia University. He graduated in 2012 with his Masters of Music Degree from Manhattan School of Music. Christian has taught an after school piano lab for two years at WHEELS in Washington Heights, and has participated in clinics in New York Public Schools. He holds a growing private studio of piano students and has taught ages three-adult from general music to advanced Jazz improvisation. Tim Basom is a jazz guitarist who lives in New York City. Tim completed and undergraduate degree in Jazz Studies at the University of Akron, Ohio, and a Master’s degree in Jazz Performance from the Manhattan School of Music. He has appeared at many of New York's well-known jazz and dance venues, most notably Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola, The Iridium Jazz Club, The Highline Ballroom, Sullivan Hall, Cameo Art Gallery, and Rockwood Music Hall. Tim is also on faculty at Turtle Bay Music School and the Larchmont Music Academy, and enjoys playing on his regular Sunday morning church gig in Brooklyn,streaming live over the Internet. Aaron Bazzell is doing a Master of Arts in Music Education (with K-12 certification) at Teachers College, Columbia University. He earned a Bachelors of Music in Jazz Studies at Michigan State University. Aaron is currently a Paraprofessional at Hackensack Board of Education, New Jersey, has tutored for Harlem Village Academies, and served as a Math Fellow for HSID in Houston, Texas. One of our longest running groups, the Wadsworth Strings Ensemble features music for classical strings, from the symphonies of Mozart and Haydn, to well known arias from the operas of Puccini and Bizet. You may hear a selection of continental Viennese waltzes and French cabaret. Musicians of The Claremont Strings Ensemble have performed collectively at Weill Hall, Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall and throughout the Northeast, playing a diverse range of symphonic and chamber music, eclectic jazz, and gypsy swing. Wadsworth Strings, emanating from the Washington Heights area, is a division of Claremont Strings, founded by Vivian Penham, a graduate of the Juilliard School and Columbia University.
