Artivism Expo: Reimagining the Future

Would your future self be proud of your current self? What steps are you taking now that will make your future self proud, and how might these actions contribute to a better society?

Reimagining the Future: Nurturing Change for a More Dignified and Meaningful Co-Existence is the fifth annual Artivism expo, following artivism talks held virtually throughout 2025-2026. This celebratory exhibit, which launched at Adelphi University in June, represents a current transformation of one's mindset—one that can make a difference in our future, and by extension, in society.  Artists present works that symbolize their evolving mindsets and the steps they are taking now to create meaningful change.

Mediums range from sculpture to mixed media to video, with curation by the Gottesman Libraries of 23 pieces from 11 artists who reflect on historic, global concerns, as well as their experiences and their work.

Artivism: The Power of Art for Social Transformation is jointly sponsored by Adelphi University and the Gottesman Libraries. A movement with committed social artivists, Artivism: The Power of Art Social Transformation, grew out of Illuminations of Social Imagination: Learning From Maxine Greene, (Dio Press, 2019), edited by Teachers College alumni Courtney Weida and Carolina Cambronero-Varela, and Dolapo Adeniji-Neill, of Adelphi University.
